Inter midfielder Borja Valero discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 1-1 draw against Fiorentina last night when speaking to gathered reporters in the mixed zone after the game with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb reporting his statement.

“It’s always a wonderful feeling to come back here, it could also have been my last game as a player at the Franchi. It’s a shame we couldn’t win, but it was important for us.”

The Spaniard touched on why he didn’t celebrate his goal.

“I had five very beautiful years with Fiorentina, it was the least I could do.”

He was disappointed that the Nerazzurri failed to earn all three points.

“Vlahovic’s goal was very nice but we weren’t good either. It’s never easy to come to the Franchi but we could have won the game.”

Finally, Valero spoke about rumours suggesting that he will return to Fiorentina next summer, when his contract with Inter expires.

“I haven’t heard anything about it, we’ll see if there’s anything in it. It’s nice if you’re followed by other teams, it means that you still have something to give to football.”
