In an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has shared his thoughts on Inter drawing Ludogorets in the Europa League round of 32.

“There are no easy games, especially in these competitions. We have to face every game as best we can, because there can always be surprises. We need to finish the year well and then we can prepare for these two matches,” he said.

“We want to be protagonists in this competition because we always want to do well in Europe. We regret being knocked out of the Champions League but now we must concentrate on this tournament which is equally as important.

“Let’s remember that this is the beginning of a path and we are doing good things. There is always time to improve some things.”

He then sang the praises of Antonio Conte.

“We are happy with him. His work ethic and passion is important. He is very prepared, intelligent and has great personality. It is the start of a new journey and we have to work on things but we are on the right path.”

He was then asked if he thinks the team can continue to challenge at the top of Serie A and go all the way in the Europa League.

“It all depends on the condition we are in for these matches. If we think of the last two matches, we have had a lot of injuries that have penalised us. We think we can compete to the end, especially when we recover those who are injured. It will not be easy but we are ready because we have a positive work ethic and must continue like this.

“We will need to rely on everybody. Borja Valero is proving to be reliable and yesterday he played a great game. The important thing is that everyone feels ready to make their contribution.”

In conclusion he was asked if he feels there is pressure on Inter to win the Europa League.

“Our history is clear. We have always been protagonists in the Champions and Europa League. We have a duty to believe in ourselves, work with great humility and hope to reach the final.”
