Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt has dismissed the idea that there is a rivalry between himself and Inter defender Stefan de Vrij.
“Inter is nearby, it is really a good fight. This Serie A season is really exciting, we both have the same points,” he began an interview with Dutch magazine Het Parool.
“Stefan is a friend, certainly not an enemy. Inter and Juventus are rivals for the title, certainly this season but we are not, even when it comes to the Dutch National team.
“We are teammates, even if we both want to play. Maybe the media wants to build a duel between us but that’s not how it goes. We recently went to eat together after a game, after all from Turin to Milan it takes about an hour.
“It’s nice to just be able to speak Dutch. Stefan helps me with certain things, and it’s a nice thing when you arrive in another country. Stefan has been playing in Italy for several years whilst I have just arrived.”
