Romelu Lukaku’s recent drought in front of goal in Serie A action is down to the lack of rest he has had according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Belgian, who joined in a club record transfer deal this past Summer, has failed to find the back of the net in any of his past three outings in the league.

He has missed one game through injury this season and barring one substitute appearance, he has started, and almost always, finished the remaining games.

Alexis Sanchez’s ankle injury has certainly not helped Lukaku, who has had to continually play and there will be no rest for him this weekend either due to Lautaro Martinez being suspended.

The 26-year-old Belgian international has made 21 appearances across all competitions since his arrival from Manchester United. In 1753 minutes on the park, he has scored 12 goals and also provided two assists.
