Roma have ramped up their interest in signing Genoa striker Andrea Pinamonti according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian capital city club have identified the 20-year-old as a player who could act as deputy to the ageing Edin Dzeko before eventually taking over from him in the coming years.

The Giallorossi club have been left unimpressed by Nikola Kalinic and will look to move him on in the January transfer window just six months after bringing him in.

His former club Fiorentina are believed to have shown an interest as have Genoa which could ultimately mean that Roma may offer Kalinic to help them get toward Pinamonti – who is to join Genoa permanently for €18 million at the end of the season from Inter.

With Roma keen on signing Pinamonti, it remains to be seen what will happen to the widely reported gentleman’s agreement between Genoa and Inter with it understood that Genoa were to give Inter preferential treatment to re-sign him.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that Roma have meanwhile cooled their interest in signing SPAL’s Andrea Petagna.
