Former Belgian international striker Erwin Vandenbergh has sang the praises of Inter striker Romelu Lukaku for the form that he has shown this season.
“I understand that some people have doubts or are not yet 100% convinced by Lukaku. However, we absolutely should not doubt him especially when you see what he has already achieved and the number of goals he has scored,” he told Belgian newspaper Sud Info.
“He will not be a player like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo but we should not be expecting that from him. He has shown more than enough whilst playing for the national team. He is very useful for Belgium and will continue to be if used in the right way.
Vendenbergh, who was the top goalscorer across Europe back in 1980, concluded: “Lukaku is very motivated and this is good, you can never say that he is not giving 100%. He has already cut out his space at Inter and is scoring goals.”
