Inter are experiencing record numbers of spectators present at the San Siro, with the average attendance at the stadium in the first eight games of the season the highest in the last 20 years, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the average number of spectators in the first eight games of the season was 64,473. The peak attendance was for the Derby d’Italia in October, where 75,923 spectators were present inside the San Siro as Inter took of rivals Juventus. The lowest number of spectators in the first eight games was in the midweek match against Lazio, when only 56,175 spectators were present.
This trend seems to be continuing, the report highlights, with around 60 thousand spectators expected for this evening’s league clash against Genoa. As long as at least 59 thousand spectators are present today, Inter would continue the record setting streak. The average of 63,864 spectators would become the highest in the league compared to the 1999/2000 season, when an average of 63,796 spectators were watching Marcello Lippi’s Nerazzurri squad.
