Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are working on alternative transfer options to Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, with Udinese talisman Rodrigo De Paul their second choice, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the Friulian club want at least €30 million for the 25-year-old Argentine midfielder and are hoping for an 18-month loan deal with an obligation to buy attached.

The risk for the Nerazzurri is that it might take a little while for De Paul to adapt, time that Inter don’t have if they want to continue battling Juventus for the league title this season.

Furthermore, the report highlights, it appears to be no coincidence that De Paul’s performances with Udinese began to decline slightly following on from the rumours linking him to Inter.

The Friulian club will have to decide whether it’s worth trying their hardest to hold onto a player who’s already thinking of a different club.
