Inter linked striker Dries Mertens would prefer to stay in Europe and not move to a Chinese club, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Naples based newspaper Il Mattino.

The report details how the 32-year-old Belgian striker, whose contract expires with Napoli next June, would prefer to stay with the Partenopei, rather than making a move to China, which he has been previously linked with. If the player cannot stay with Napoli, then he would at least like to remain in a competitive European league.

His wishes have been noticed, the report continues. Two clubs in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, are both keen on the player, as well as Arsenal in the Premier League.

He has been previously linked with a move to Inter as well, suggesting that the Nerazzurri could consider approaching him next summer for a free transfer. He has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for the Naples based club.
