Inter look set to face competition from Lyon to sign Olivier Giroud in the upcoming January transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of French newspaper Le Progres.

Lyon have sparked an interest in signing the Chelsea forward due to Memphis Depay picking up a long term injury and can be said to have an advantage over Inter.

As per the report, this advantage is being able to offer Giroud a starting berth in the team, something he would not get all that often at Inter, due to the fact the Nerazzuri wish to bring him in to act as deputy for club record signing Romelu Lukaku.

Giroud has fallen significantly out of favour this season at the blues and is seemingly keen to move on in January to get more playing time elsewhere with him wanting to ensure himself of a place in the France squad for EURO 2020.
