West Ham United had scouts present at the Club World Cup between Flamengo and Liverpool to cast an eye over Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa according to a report from British newspaper The Sun.
The Brazilian striker has been on loan at Flamengo since January this year from Inter and has scored no less than 43 goals across all competitions for them.
West Ham have struggled for goals this season and are on the lookout for a new striker in January who can support Sebastian Haller and hopefully turn their fortunes around and believe that Gabigol, who was named the second best player at the Club World Cup, could help them out.
They will need to fend off competition from Flamengo who wish to sign him on a permanent basis. They will also need to move very quick with many Flamengo officials confirming that there is already a deal in place with Inter.
