Former Juventus winger Simone Pepe has spoken on the selfless nature of Inter striker Romelu Lukaku following his kind act in this past weekend’s 4-0 win over Genoa.

The 26-year-old Belgian international striker, who joined the club in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United in the Summer, gave up the chance to take a penalty and handed the ball to 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito instead.

Esposito, who was making his first start for the Inter first team, duly converted and got his first goal at senior level.

“He has demonstrated it on several occasions because he also gave some penalties to Lautaro Martinez,” he remarked in an interview with Sport Mediaset show Tiki Taka.

Pepe then went on to discuss why he thinks Inter have managed to be so consistent this season, particularly in Serie A.

“Inter’s consistency this season is down to Antonio Conte, who put himself at the centre of the club’s project.”
