In an interview with Argentine news outlet Olé, Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni has looked back on some young players that have come into his side during the course of this year.
“I have been very much surprised by guys like Nicolas Dominguez, Exequiel Palacios and Lucas Ocampos. Have I been surprised by Lautaro Martinez? Well, he is no longer a surprise. He had asked for a chance and now he deserves it,” Scaloni explained.
This year Lautaro has made 13 appearances across all competitions for the Albiceleste, during which he has scored eight goals, including his first international hat-trick, and given one assist.
Lautaro’s performances this season with Inter are sure to earn him yet more opportunities to represent his country in the not so distant future too.
The 22-year-old has made 22 appearances across all competitions. In 1663 minutes on the field, he has scored 13 goals and provided three assists.
