Scottish Premiership club Rangers have made contact with Olivier Giroud with regard to a possible move to them according to a report from the Daily Record.

Giroud’s contract with Premier League club Chelsea is due to expire at the end of the season and given his lack of usage this season, his future appears to be far from Stamford Bridge.

The 33-year-old French international striker could well seek a January transfer move away from the Blues in order to play regularly ahead of EURO 2020, a competition which Giroud wishes to compete in.

Rangers are looking to former Arsenal man Giroud as they hope signing him could help increase their chances of ending the monopoly of Celtic in the Scottish top flight who could well win their ninth straight title this season.

Giroud has been linked with several clubs in recent weeks including both Inter and Borussia Dortmund.

This season he has been limited to just seven appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored one goal.
