Both Fiorentina and Atalanta are keen to sign Inter forward Matteo Politano in the upcoming January transfer window, but neither club are likely to acquire him, according to a report from Italian broadcaster SportMediaset today.
The report details how both Italian sides appreciate the qualities of the 26-year-old Italian forward, who has struggled to find playing time under coach Antonio Conte so far this season, due to his inability to adapt to the 50-year-old Italian coach’s tactical system. Whilst Fiorentina and Atalanta are keen to sign him, he is likely to move to a different Italian side instead.
The report highlights how the Nerazzurri would prefer to send Politano down to Naples, in exchange for Napoli striker Fernando Llorente. The 34-year-old Spaniard has been noted for his strong physical presence and aerial threat, making him the perfect backup to main striker Romelu Lukaku. Inter were keen on unhappy Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, but the Frenchman is now in the sights of Juventus, making a deal slightly more difficult to achieve.
