A report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport has highlighted the importance of Stefan De Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic to Antonio Conte’s Inter.

The report details how the Dutch defender finds space to start forward movements when on the ball, allowing the Nerazzurri to play out from the back. His strong vision has been so clinical that it has directly led to goals, with examples being Romelu Lukaku’s first goal against Sassuolo, or Lautaro Martinez’s goal against Borussia Dortmund at the San Siro.

De Vrij’s season isn’t only impressive from a playmaking perspective, but also from a defensive one, the report continues. Inter’s defence is the best in the league, only conceding 14 goals in 17 games, better than Lazio, Juventus and Roma, for example.

Finally, the report touched on the partnership between De Vrij and Brozovic, with the Croatian midfielder regularly linking up well with the Dutch defender. The 27-year-old Croatian has played almost 2000 minutes across 22 appearances so far this season for Inter, being a key part of Conte’s midfield set up.
