A report from today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has suggested that there is more than just playing time issues that’s pushing Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal to join Inter in January.

The report details how the 32-year-old Chilean midfielder has struggled for consistent playing time with the Blaugrana so far this season, only playing a full 90 minutes for the Catalan club twice all season. However, even with his fractured relationship with coach Ernesto Valverde and his complaints about unpaid bonuses, there is one other reason why Vidal is so keen to join Inter in January.

The report suggests that Vidal is keen to return to Italy due to the tax law in Italy that would allow him to earn more than if he remained in Spain, even on the same wages. This is because of the fact that he previously spent four years in Italy earlier in his career. Therefore, he would only be taxed 20 to 30% of his wages, compared to 51% in Spain.
