Inter striker Matteo Politano is a key figure in the Nerazzurri’s January transfer market plans, with his departure necessary for the Milanese club to sign a new forward, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 26-year-old Italian, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, can be sold for a significant amount, allowing the Nerazzurri to reinvest the funds into the squad and acquire a new forward, better fit to the tactical system of coach Antonio Conte. Various Italian teams are interested in Politano, including Fiorentina, Parma and Atalanta.
Once Politano has been sold or sent away on loan, the report continues, Inter would then have the freedom to sign a new backup to striker Romelu Lukaku. The main option at the moment appears to be Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, who Conte believes would provide the perfect backup to the 26-year-old Belgian striker.
