Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso is Inter’s primary market objective for the full back department, according to a report from Italian broadcaster SportMediaset today.

The report details how the South London club want €35 million for the 29-year-old Spaniard’s signature, a high price, but the Nerazzurri believe they can still negotiate a lower fee for the player. Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has offered the Blues €5 million for the loan, plus another €20 million to purchase him outright.

Therefore, the report continues, there is only a distance of €10 million between the two parties, a less problematic situation than initially believed. Alonso is contracted to the club until 2023 but has struggled for playing time under coach Frank Lampard this season. He has only made 14 appearances across all competitions for a total of 1059 minutes, scoring one goal and providing three assists in that time. He has only appeared once in Chelsea’s last ten league games.
