Flamengo CEO Bruno Spindel discussed the negotiations with Inter for Brazilian forward Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa in an interview with Brazilian broadcaster Fox Sports.

“We had a meeting in Doha, we took a step forward. At the moment it is a complex negotiation, which involves three parties and there is nothing concrete yet. Only time will tell whether Gabigol will remain in 2020.”

He continued discussing the negotiations with the Nerazzurri.

“We have the desire to keep the squad in the forefront of great successes and great performances in 2019. We will make every effort to keep the players next year as well. It always depends on the three sides, the clubs and him. We’re talking about his contract and only time will tell if we can reach an agreement.”

Gabigol scored 34 goals and provided 11 assists in 41 appearances for Flamengo this season, guiding them to both the Brazilian league title as well as the Copa Libertadores trophy.
