Inter coach Antonio Conte’s preferred full back in the January transfer window is Chelsea left back Marcos Alonso, but the Nerazzurri are also considering other options, according to a report in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how Chelsea are now asking for €45 million for the 29-year-old Spaniard’s signature, a figure much higher than the reported €20 million Inter are offering the South London club for his signature. This is, in part, due to the way Conte left the Blues.

However, Inter are convinced that Chelsea’s requested price will drop over the next few weeks, the report highlights, especially if the player continues to remain out of coach Frank Lampard’s project. Whether or not he starts against Arsenal today will show how serious Chelsea are about retaining the player.

Other options are being considered, the report adds. The first of these is 27-year-old Frenchman Layvin Kurzawa, whose contract expires with Paris Saint Germain next June. The other alternative is 28-year-old Belgian full back Thomas Meunier, who is also playing for PSG. His contract also expires next June. The Nerazzurri have contacted both of the player’s representatives.
