Inter could potentially exchange Italian forward Matteo Politano for Napoli left back Faouzi Ghoulam, according to a report in today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the 28-year-old Algerian, who is contracted to Napoli until 2022, has struggled for playing time with the Partenopei so far this season. He was previously wanted by Inter coach Antonio Conte when the Italian was in charge of Chelsea, and so he can finally achieve his wishes, important considering the years he wanted Romelu Lukaku and how well the duo have worked together at the Nerazzurri.

Previous ideas for the future of Politano would be abandoned in order to acquire such an important player, the report continues. Ideas such as selling him to fund the deal for Dejan Kulusevski or sending him to Fiorentina in order to begin the path to signing Gaetano Castrovilli. Ghoulam’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is considering all options for his client, following on from the failed interest by French side Marseille.
