Flamengo are yet to sit down with Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa to discuss his future with the club and have set a deadline for this meeting to take place according to a report from Brazilian news outlet O Globo.

Flamengo’s intentions to sign the 23-year-old striker on a permanent basis following on from a highly successful loan spell have been clear for some time but the player has long asked for time to weigh things up.

He had initially requested talks were postponed until after the Copa Libertadores final and then postponed them until after the Club World Cup but these talks have yet to occur.

Flamengo have set a deadline between the first and second week of January for these to take place as the club board do not wish to begin pre-season on January 23 with his future still uncertain.

The report goes on to state that Inter have zero interest in complicating things and just want to get Gabigol off of their books once and for all.

The Brazilian international, who arrived at Inter in a €30 million deal from Santos back in 2016, scored 43 goals and provided 13 assists in 58 appearances across all competitions for Flamengo.
