Roma manager Paulo Fonseca has told club sporting director Gianluca Petrachi that he would like Matteo Politano added to his team according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Fonseca sees Politano as an ideal alternative to Nicolo Zaniolo and the player himself would seemingly be open to a return to the Italian capital club whose academy he came through.

In order for the move to take place, Roma will need to move Cengiz Under on to make way for Politano and Inter manager Antonio Conte must give the green light to allow Politano to depart.

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has made it clear that he does not wish to loan the 26-year-old out and only wants him to leave if it will be on a permanent basis.

The report from the Roman newspaper suggests a swap deal could well take place that would see Alessandro Florenzi head in the opposite direction to Inter.
