Manchester United have held talks with the representatives of Inter linked Benfica starlet Gedson Fernandes according to a report from British broadcaster Sky Sports.

The highly-rated 20-year-old was reportedly offered to Inter earlier on this month and could be set for a loan with option to buy move to the Premier League outfit in the upcoming January transfer window.

Fernandes has fallen out of favour at Benfica and the Portuguese giants are well aware that they will not be able to command his €102 million release clause is met due to this.

As per the report, he could join United on loan for the remainder of the season and there would be an option for them to sign him on a permanent basis for €34 million.

This season Fernandes, who is currently in the Portugal under 21 national team, has made 12 appearances across all competitions, in which he has provided a single assist for his teammates.
