Inter expected Flamengo to act differently in their attempts to sign Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa on a permanent basis according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gabigol spent the whole of 2019 out on loan at the Rio de Janeiro based club and played a pivotal role in them winning the Brazilian Serie A, Copa Libertadores and finishing runners up in the Club World Cup.

Flamengo have far from hidden their desire to land him permanently but seem reluctant to meet Inter’s €20 million asking price for him despite all he has done for them.

The Rubronegro continue to try and seek a discount from the Nerazzurri and are still yet to reach an agreement with the player himself over personal terms with his wage demands understood to be an obstacle needing overcome at the moment.

In 58 appearances across all competitions for Flamengo, Gabigol, who joined Inter for circa €30 million back in 2016, scored 43 goals and tallied 13 assists.
