Inter face an uphill battle to agree a fee with Chelsea for left-back Marcos Alonso, according to the Daily Star.

Alonso is struggling for game time under Frank Lampard and was left out of his squad for tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Nottingham Forest.

But Chelsea remain reluctant to let the former Fiorentina defender leave and want double the amount of money Inter are prepared to offer.

Antonio Conte signed Alonso for the Blues during his time in charge, but a reunion in Milan seems unlikely.

Inter will resume their Serie A campaign after the winter break when they play Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo on Monday.

The Nerazzurri are thought to be searching for another left wing-back as Kwadwo Asamoah continues to battle a knee problem.

Conte is widely reported to be seeking Arturo Vidal in midfield after identifying the Chilean as his ideal mid-season reinforcement.

Like Alonso, Conte has already worked with Vidal in a former job, coaching him for three seasons at Juventus.
