Inter could sign Christian Eriksen during this month’s transfer window if they wanted – but the Nerazzurri are likely to prioritise a move for Arturo Vidal instead.

Sky Sport’s transfer expert Luca Marchetti confirmed the Tottenham midfielder was a realistic target for Antonio Conte’s side in January, with the Dane’s contract due to expire in June.

But Vidal remains the club’s preferred option in midfield, despite Barcelona’s reluctance to enter into negotiations.

Marchetti told Radio Deejay: “Inter could get Eriksen despite what Jose Mourinho has said in public, because Spurs want to recoup some money from his sale. They’re completely open to doing a deal.

“But Inter believe Vidal is the signing they need to compete with Juventus for the Scudetto this season.

“Vidal wants to leave Barca and I think the club would consider a €20 million offer if it arrived, because they need to raise money like other Italian sides do.”

Marchetti also explained how Matteo Politano could sign for Napoli, Roma or Fiorentina this month, but only if they offered Inter a permanent deal.

“Swapping Politano with Fernando Llorente could be the answer for Inter and Napoli as it would ‘postpone’ their problems until June,” he added.
