Chelsea are keen to sign Inter outcast Gabriel Barbosa this month, according to the Daily Express in England.
The Blues will need to replace Olivier Giroud if the French striker is allowed to leave – with Inter one of the clubs linked – so they are not short of backup for Tammy Abraham.
Inter appear to have no intention of reintegrating ‘Gabigol’ into their squad after his 12-month loan spell with Flamengo expired last week.
“Chelsea could seal the deal by waiving a fee on Giroud, who is wanted by Inter boss Antonio Conte,” Neil Fissler reported this morning.
“Barbosa caught the eye of Frank Lampard after scoring both of Flamengo’s goals in the Copa Libertadores final earlier this season.
“Lampard is still keen on Jadon Sancho but Barbosa is a priority.”
Barbosa scored 43 goals for Flamengo in 2019 to rebuild his reputation after flopping in Europe with Inter and Benfica.
The former Santos man was recently voted South America’s Player of the Year by Uruguayan newspaper El Pais.
