Flamengo management are set to meet with the representatives of Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa this coming week according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.
There has been a deal in place between Inter and the Brazilian side over the permanent transfer of the 23-year-old striker for a few months now but the player’s wage demands have proved to be an obstacle in talks.
Off the back of firing Flamengo to Brazilian Serie A and Copa Libertadores glory, Gabigol is now understood to be demanding no less than €5 million per season.
Despite his high demands and the fact his loan finished almost a week ago, the player remains in Brazil as optimism remains that this can be overcome and a deal finalised.
The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to add that West Ham United have shown an interest but have made no concrete advances toward Inter for him.
