In today’s print edition, Tuttosport have recalled how a match against Napoli changed the course for Marcelo Brozovic at Inter ahead of tomorrow’s match between Napoli and Inter.

Back in March 2018, then Inter manager Luciano Spalletti took the decision to deploy the Croatian as one of the midfield two in his 4-2-3-1 system.

On that night, Spalletti gave Brozovic the keys to the midfield and Brozovic would go on to be the best player on the pitch and this would represent a real turning point for his career. Up until that match, Brozovic had almost always been deployed as an attacking midfielder and performed with great inconsistency.

Brozovic has now become an integral part of the way Inter play and when unavailable for selection, it is clear that Inter lack a lot, particularly in the build-up and possession phases of the game.

This season the 27-year-old has made 22 appearances across all competitions. In almost 2000 minutes, he has scored two goals and contributed four assists.
