The coming week could be decisive for Flamengo’s chances of landing Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa on a permanent transfer from Inter according to a report from UOL Esporte.
In the next few days the Rio de Janeiro based club will meet with the 23-year-old striker to hold talks over personal terms, which have so far proved to be an obstacle in negotiations.
If this obstacle can be overcome and an agreement is reached, Flamengo will then make contact with Inter to hold further talks given that the landscape has massively changed.
The two clubs had previously reached an agreement in principle over his transfer but that was before the likes of West Ham United and Chelsea began showing an interest in signing him, something which could ultimately push his price up.
Flamengo do not wish to wait too long and have already began the process of identifying alternatives in the event that they cannot land the former Santos player. Fiorentina’s Pedro is believed to be one alternative under consideration.
