Inter received a boost in their bid to sign Olivier Giroud tonight after Frank Lampard admitted the forward could leave Chelsea this month.

Giroud was an unused substitute in the Blues’ 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday, casting more doubt over his future in west London.

Antonio Conte brought the Frenchman to Chelsea in 2018 and is thought to be keen on a reunion in Milan.

Lampard told reporters: “There are no updates on Giroud but I’ve spoken to him. If the situation remains as it is, or rather that he wants to leave, and there’s an important offer for the club then it’s possible something happens.

“It will only be if the conditions are right, though. At that point we’ll decide what to do.”

Giroud scored five goals under Conte during the second half of the 2017-18 season, with Chelsea finishing fifth in the Premier League and winning the FA Cup.
