Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has confirmed that the club are working on the transfer market to bring in new players but Christian Eriksen, for the time being, is not one of them.

“We are in contact with agents and clubs to try and increase the level of this group that is travelling to the top. We have not yet finalised anything and we want to do everything with great caution,” he explained.

“Right now we are looking to sign a midfielder and a full back. If players decide they want to leave we will try to please them but for now we have no pressure to sell anyone.”

Next he was asked about Diego Godin’s situation with the Uruguayan now having started three games in a row on the bench.

“We are playing in three competitions and everyone is needed but it is up to Conte to choose who plays based on their performances. In modern day football a large squad is needed and for this reason we are looking on the transfer market.”

He concluded by denying media reports that Inter are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over Christian Eriksen.

“Important players are very often linked to Inter. On the one hand it flatters us, but I must say that we have had no contact with Tottenham.

“His contract expires in June, he is an excellent player but there are many teams in the race to sign him, as there is always is for important players. I am not here to say that we are negotiating, but I am just saying he is an interesting player.”
