Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has stated that should Barcelona sack coach Ernesto Valverde, the Nerazzurri’s chances of signing Chilean international midfielder Arturo Vidal will become very uncertain, he told Italian broadcaster RAI moments ago.

When asked if Inter will sign Arturo Vidal Marotta suggested it depended on several factors which were out of Inter’s control.

“It depends on many factors. I am not denying that he is an important player for us but the position of the Barcelona coach is at risk. Should something change there I do not know what could happen.”

Marotta was then asked of he ever thought he would work for Inter where he underlined that he never thought it would happen.

“I had never even imagined it but this is what is beautiful about football. For those of us who work in this profession, including footballers and journalists, the beauty lies in the unexpected events.”

The former Juventus Director was then asked if he thinks Inter could reach the halfway point of the season top of the Serie A, referring to after tomorrow’s match against Atalanta.

“It would certainly be a moment of great transition, what matters is that we finish at the top at the end even if Juventus has the capacity to finish ahead of us. Inter will win the Serie A if Juventus lose it.”
