Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta remains optimistic that Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa will be sold this month according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Flamengo have shown an extremely strong interest in signing him up on a permanent basis off the back of his successful loan spell with them in 2019 but the report states they appear to be focusing their attention elsewhere, namely Fiorentina’s Pedro.

Gabigol’s salary demands are understood to have proved to be an obstacle for the Rio de Janeiro based club, who, as per the report, are now in less of a hurry to try and sign him up.

Premier League outfit West Ham United have also shown an interest in bringing in the 23-year-old and Marotta is expecting offers to arrive from England worth in excess of €20 million – which is more than the deal agreed in principle between Inter and Flamengo a few months ago.
