A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has collected the rumours suggesting that Barcelona are looking to replace coach Ernesto Valverde with former midfielder Xavi.

The report details how there was a secret meeting in Doha between Xavi, Barcelona’s CEO Oscar Grau and sporting director Eric Abidal. The idea was for the meeting to remain a secret but now it’s been exposed, leading many to believe that Valverde will soon be dismissed by the Catalan club.

Whilst Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were quick to defend Valverde in the mixed zone after the defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup earlier this week, the report continues, a potential dismissal of Valverde doesn’t seem too impossible.

Inter are following the situation closely, as the dismissal of the Spanish coach could convince Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal to remain in Spain instead of heading to Inter this month.
