Inter’s top transfer target is Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the Dane’s agent, Martin Schott, arrived in Milan this week to discuss a possible deal that will see the player move from London to Milan this month to join the Nerazzurri. Inter are seriously interested in signing Eriksen and now must wait for the response from Spurs next week.

The alternative to Eriksen, Arturo Vidal, is now more unlikely due to the complicated situation at Barcelona, the report highlights.

Due to the Blaugrana’s loss to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, coach Ernesto Valverde’s position is now more at risk. Vidal may prefer to wait and see whether the Spaniard will be dismissed or not, before deciding to move over to Inter.

Finally, the Nerazzurri are still working towards signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, the report adds. Coach Frank Lampard is open to selling the Frenchman, but the Milanese club must still satisfy the requests of the South London team.

The two parties met yesterday, with Inter’s offer only €1 million lower than Chelsea’s request, suggesting a deal isn’t too far away.
