Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is only one step away from joining Inter, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 33-year-old Frenchman’s agents visited the Nerazzurri’s headquarters earlier this week, which has helped close the distance between the two parties.

Inter haven’t offered more than €5 million for Giroud, whilst Chelsea have lowered their request by €10 million. Due to the willingness of both parties to find a solution, the deal is expected to be completed next week, with Chelsea coach Frank Lampard giving his consent to the deal.

One issue still remaining, the report continues, is what contract to offer Giroud. The Frenchman wants a two-and-a-half-year contract, whilst Inter would prefer to sign him on an 18-month contract.

If this issue caused the deal to collapse completely, then the Nerazzurri would reignite their interest in Napoli forward Fernando Llorente.
