Arturo Vidal will be staying put at Barcelona following the sacking of manager Ernesto Valverde according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Vidal was desperate to leave Barcelona with his poor relations with Valverde understood to be a factor in that desperation but now Valverde is away, Vidal will stay with reigning Spanish champions, which will come as a blow to Inter.

For this reason, tomorrow could be a very important day for Inter’s pursuit of Christian Eriksen, who would now appear to be the club’s top midfield target for this month.

Inter met with his agent Martin Schoots in the past few days and reached an agreement in principle over personal terms. If Eriksen gives the go-ahead, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta will travel to London to deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are believed to want €20 million for the 27-year-old Danish international but Inter are only wanting to spend around €10 million. The report does add that Inter could well offer a player as part of any deal such as Matias Vecino.
