Andrea Ranocchia spoke to the gathered journalists in the mixed zone at San Siro following Inter’s comfortable 4-1 win over Cagliari in the Coppa Italia.

“The most important thing is that we have progressed to the next round but it was a pleasure to play and score. It is always a pleasure and a great honour to play wearing this shirt and with my teammates,” he began.

“The Coppa Italia is a goal of ours and we are happy to have went through. I think we played a good game but there is still room for improvement.”

He was then asked if he was expecting Romelu Lukaku to do so well since his arrival at the club in a club record transfer deal this past Summer.

“Yes I did. He has incredible physicality. He has a lot to improve upon as Italian football is difficult for strikers but he is understanding it better ad we are seeing that game after game. He has huge margins for growth.”

In conclusion he was asked about whether Inter can challenge Juventus for the Serie A title: “The goal is to stick close to Juventus, that is why we work.”
