There is still some distance between Inter and Chelsea in negotiations over Olivier Giroud according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Chelsea are continuing to demand €8 million for the French striker and seem reluctant to drop their demands at all whilst Inter are unwilling to offer any more than €5 million for him giving his expiring contract status.

The 33-year-old appears to be Inter’s number one target for the attack and if the clubs can strike a deal, he will arrive and serve as back-up to Romelu Lukaku.

The report goes on to add that Inter have cooled their interest in signing Manchester United’s Ashley Young as they close in on the signing of Leonardo Spinazzola but it cannot be ruled out that in the event of other departures that they will not go back in for him.

It goes on to conclude that Matias Vecino could depart the club by the end of this month. The Uruguayan midfielder has been brought up in talks between Inter and AC Milan and could find himself included in a swap deal that would see Franck Kessie head in the opposite direction.
