Inter central midfielder Borja Valero has shared his delight at scoring as Inter cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over fellow Serie A side Cagliari in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.

“The goal was a birthday gift to myself. Scoring is always nice and doing it for the first time at San Siro in an Inter shirt made it even more satisfying,” he began an interview with Inter’s in-house channel Inter TV.

“We wanted to quickly forget about the draw with Atalanta in the league and today we did very well. It is important for us to always play at a high tempo and this is what we done tonight.”

The Spaniard added: “We hope to continue like this. Had we been offered to be in this situation at the start of the season, we would have all signed up for it. It would be perfect if we could fight for the title until the end of the season.”
