Despite the fact that Ernesto Valverde was replaced by Quique Setién as the head coach of Barcelona, Inter target Arturo Vidal may still leave the club this month, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.
The report details how Valverde, despite offering him limited playing time, appreciated the qualities of the Chilean midfielder and didn’t want to lose the player. Setién, on the other hand, has a more visible tactical system similar to Johan Cruyff or Pep Guardiola, a system that Vidal may not fit into properly.
Riqui Puig’s promotion to the first team, the report continues, may suggest that the new coach wants to add another player to the midfield alongside Sergio Busquets and Frenkie De Jong that fit into Cruyff and Guardiola’s fluid style, a style that Vidal doesn’t excel at.
Therefore, the report continues, Vidal could still leave the Blaugrana before the end of this month. If Inter offload Matias Vecino, they could have both the money and the space to offer Vidal. Tottenham, Sevilla and Everton are all interested in Vecino.
