Newcastle are working hard to finalise the deal with Inter for Austrian midfielder Valentino Lazaro, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews today.

The report details how the Premier League side have overcome their competition, West Ham and German side Werder Bremen, to reach an agreement with the Nerazzurri to sign the 23-year-old Austrian.

Newcastle offered the Milanese side a loan worth €2 million with a buy option attached worth between €18-20 million. The German side simply offered a six-month dry loan whilst the East London club wanted to loan him for 18 months.

Inter are hoping to turn the buy option into an obligation to buy, the report continues, based on the number of appearances the player’s made. The negotiations will continue this evening, but Lazaro’s agent is in Newcastle in order to attempt to close the deal.

Lazaro has made 11 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri so far this season.
