Inter are close to finalising a deal for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 27-year-old Dane was supposed to start in Tottenham’s league clash against Watford yesterday but only made a brief substitute appearance, with the player seemingly waving goodbye to the Spurs fans at the end of the game.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio are in Lecce with the squad for today’s game but will return tomorrow to continue the negotiations with the North London club for the player.

The Milanese club are now incredibly optimistic about their chances of closing the deal, the report continues. Inter have offered Tottenham €15 million for the player and are now working on the bonuses to include, working towards reaching Spurs’ requested €20 million figure.

Inter midfielder Matias Vecino didn’t join the squad for today’s game, the report adds, with it now being clear that the Uruguayan is on the transfer list and likely to depart before the end of the month.
