Lecce coach Fabio Liverani spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following his side’s 1-1 draw against Inter.

“Today we had a great game, suffering when it was needed and creating big problems for a team that usually doesn’t give you much,” Liverani said.

“Considering the difference in quality between the two teams, I think Lecce created a lot today. We could have gone straight ahead with Mancosu.

“Today we suffered just the right amount, against an extraordinary team. This result is a reward for the team, which has had a difficult time of late.”

The Lecce coach then touched on the difficulties the squad’s faced in regard to injuries.

“I never wanted to make an excuse, but let’s say that when seven or eight players are missing it’s difficult to keep things competitive during weekly training sessions,” he explained.

“I’ve been here for three years and this team only expresses itself on a Sunday on the pitch if there’s competition in training. The transfer market? We’ve made some choices, but the deals aren’t moving very fast.”

Finally, Liverani discussed who he thoughts were the favourites in the title race between Inter and Juventus.

“The squads are totally different. In six months Inter have closed a gap that has lasted 10 years. The Nerazzurri are there, ready, they’ve made important investments. But Juventus are ahead of the rest.”
