Noted Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has examined Inter’s recent poor run of form in the league that has resulted in them falling behind arch-rivals Juventus in the title race.

“Inter drew in Lecce, just like Juventus did but the main problem is that Inter have now drawn four of their last six games. They have picked up less than two points per game. The drop that Conte feared a month ago has come,” he wrote in his latest column.

“Inter have been leaving a lot to their opponents. Inter have lost an eight point lead they held over Lazio in the space of six games.”

He then touched upon Inter’s pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur Christian Eriksen.

“Now Eriksen is coming and he will certainly bring more quality but I believe that Conte must also grow with the team and understand that when they lose points he also loses them. Beyond the miracles that Conte is capable of, he has to say why the team have not played with the same intensity for over a month.

“With the arrivals of Eriksen and Young, everyone improves but now Inter are looking back at the transfer market hoping for changes.”
