Massimo Roj, the chief executive of CMR, one of the companies taking part in the bidding process to build Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium, has spoken on the role they play following a recent meeting between the clubs and the city council.

“We are distant actors or observers, if you like, in this situation. There was a meeting on Tuesday between the clubs and the city council and we are waiting for answers,” he told Italian radio station Radiocor.

“We hope and hope that there will be an approach, we are trying to do our best to support the teams to be able to get closer to the requests of the city council.

“The negotiations are ongoing and we have thought up an idea for San Siro to be re-purposed, as requested by the teams to help them reach an agreement with the city council. I hope there will be a way for us to discuss it.

“The stadium remains how it was first designed but it is the parts around the stadium that are the subject of these negotiations. We hope that the neighbourhood can change but we still do not know if it will be carried out or not.”

He concluded: “The project can greatly help in the context of urban regeneration, a new stadium is a great attraction.”
