Flamengo vice president Marcos Braz has admitted that the club hope to complete a deal to sign Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa from Inter in the coming days.

“Today Gabriel is an Inter player and Inter will determine what will happen with him. We are at work and hope that we can conclude a deal before Monday,” Braz told the gathered media at the official presentation of Flamengo’s latest signing Thiago Maia.

“We are remaining very calm in this situation and are aware that we are doing our best to sign him. Inter and his representatives are also striving to sort out the final adjustments that are needed.”

Gabigol spent the whole of 2019 out on loan at the Rio de Janeiro club and wrote himself into the club’s history books with his sensational form.

In 58 appearances across all competitions in the Mengao shirt, Gabigol scored no less than 43 goals and provided 13 assists for his teammates.
